Biography

Filippo Maria MARTINI (DVM, Associate Professor in Veterinary Surgical Clinic, University of Parma).

He graduated in Veterinary Medicine at the University of Parma in 1993 and obtained the title of Doctor of Research in “Orthopedics for pets”.

During his first post-graduation years, he attended the Veterinary Surgical Clinic of the University of Munich (Germany), specializing in Orthopedic Surgery under the guidance and supervision of the well-known ECVS Ulriche Matis graduate.

Lecturer at the Postgraduate Course in “Small animal orthopedics” at the University of Stud.  Federico II (Naples) and of “Diagnostics for Small Animals Images” at the University of Pisa, he is a teacher of various courses at the University of Parma.

From 2009 to 2012, he was Head of the Surgical Operating Unit of the University Veterinary Teaching Hospital of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Parma.  President of SIOVET (Italian Society of Veterinary Orthopedics) from 2011 to 2014, and “Ambassador Member” of AOVET, he is an ordinary member of numerous scientific veterinary societies: ESVOT (European Society of Veterinary Orthopedics and Traumatology), SICV (Italian Society of Veterinary Surgery  ), IEWG (International Elbow Working Group), SCIVAC (Italian Cultural Society of Veterinary Pet Animals) and SISVET (Italian Society of Veterinary Sciences).  He is the coordinator of ORTOVET (Veterinary Orthopedic Service), the first company among professionals in Italy designed and created for the specialzed care of orthopedic patients throughout the country. He is the author of numerous publications and the book “Joint pathologies in dogs and cats” (Poletto publisher).  He also is a speaker at conferences and courses in Italy and abroad.
